If you didn't already know besides inking comics for over 30 plus years now, I'm also kinda an artist.
I have inked for Marvel comics, DC comics, Image comics, Valiant comics and a slew of indie publishers and self publishers. Most know for inking Aquaman during his hook era! The series was written by Peter David and penciled by Jim Calafiore at that time, and it was truly a blast to be working on a top 100 book at that time.
But I also draw. During my career I've done some pinup work, fan art and commissions but its taken me this long to finally get serious about penciling. Why you may ask. Well waay back in my teens I created my own superhero character named RETRO. Its been a dream to self publish RETRO myself but when I decided to put together the first issue I got a friend of mine to pencil the book. (Didn't think I was a strong enough artist at the time. Plus me friend Rich Fuscia was very very good.
Time went by and my friend got into illustration and painting, moving on from penciling comics. I thought on it for quite some time and came to the conclusion I should just pencil the book myself.
Unfortunately what is common among indies is that we work on our books on the side. RETRO got delayed time and again through my heavy workload and life. No excuses, I will get this book done.
So in order to see myself penciling my own book one day I made a few attempts at just drawing every day in order to get better.
In the past I got sidelined but in my most recent attempt I've kept up with it.
Here's just one example...
